How do I get to Halcyon Search?
Navigate to https://app.halcyon.io/search
We recommend using a desktop computer or laptop. Eventually, we’ll have a mobile experience as well.
How much does Halcyon Search cost?
Halcyon Search is free. Right now, Halcyon Queries and Queries-from-Search are also free, but eventually, Queries and Quries-from-Search will be paid.
How do I run a Halcyon Search?
Navigate to https://app.halcyon.io/search
Then, complete at least one filter to start to narrow the universe of information. As you add filters, you will see the Catalog count dynamically update - this is how search works, there is no “Search now” button.
Do I need to fill in all the “fields” before I can run my Search?
No. You don’t need to complete every field, but you do need to complete at least one field to run a search. Search results update automatically each time you adjust filters.
The landing page is itself a search with no filters applied (all documents in the Halcyon catalog).
Can I sort the search results?
Not yet, but we’re working on it!
Search results are currently sorted by recency, with the most recently published documents shown first. We’ll add other sorting options in the future.
Can I see the dockets associated with these documents?
Yes, in two ways:
Each search result shows the docket number(s) associated with the resulting document. You can click the docket number to view Halcyon’s Docket profile, which includes high-level information about the docket and an AI-generated summary of the docket proceeding.

You can also switch the results view between documents and dockets using the drop-down menu next to the results count. Switching this view will show all dockets that are associated with at least one document.

How does Halcyon Search use keyword search terms?
Halcyon Search returns documents that contain an exact match of all of the search term/phrases. If you provide two or more keyword search phrases, Halcyon limits the results to documents that contain all of those phrases (sometimes known as AND logic).
Halcyon Search does not use semantic search (like Google Search), where a search for “battery” may return a document that contains “energy storage.” For more information about how Halcyon Search works, see this blog post.
What are Topic filters?
Topic filters narrow search results based on tags curated and applied by the Halcyon team. Some topics are conceptual (e.g., “Data Center” tags documents related to data centers), while others correspond to specific types of plans or reports (e.g., “Integrated Resource Plan”).
All Halcyon filters, other than keywords, operate on OR logic within a category, so if you select two publishers you will get all results from both publishers. They operate on AND logic across filter types. This allows you to use a publisher filter with a topic to drill down to something like “All the IRPs filed with the Oregon PUC.”
Why is the Filing types filter greyed out?
The Filing Types filter allows you to filter documents based on filing types designated by the PUC that published them. Because these vary widely across commissions (and some don’t provide them at all), the available options depend on which publishers you’ve selected. For example, the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities and the Florida PSC offer different filing types:

If no publishers are selected — or if all selected publishers don’t provide filing types — the filter will be greyed out.
